OUR FIRST CHAPTER · MORETON BAY

Close to home.
A world away.

An island on the horizon.
The whole day to make it yours.

From the sheltered reaches of Pumicestone Passage to Moreton Bay’s island beaches, our collection begins with places worth getting to know slowly. Carry a picnic across the water, spend a night ashore or make a small sailing weekend of it.

You sail the boat. We’ll shape the proposed adventure around your experience, crew and time, with an agreed sailing area and boat familiarisation before you go. Keep an eye out for dolphins and turtles; the best wildlife moments happen on their terms.

OUR NEXT CHAPTER · GREAT SANDY

K’gari.
From the sea.

That beautiful western shore.
A boat can take you there.

Picture sandy beaches, tidal creeks and the wide blue of the Great Sandy Strait. We’re exploring future sailing adventures along K’gari’s western coast, through waterways shared by dolphins, dugongs and turtles.

A K’gari escape, without bringing a 4WD.

Discover the island’s western beaches by boat. Moon Point and Teebing at Wathumba spit even have boat-access-only camping areas—a different way to experience this remarkable coast.

Explore the western beaches

Sail the Great Sandy Strait, look out for dolphins around Tin Can Bay and choose your own rhythm of beaches and anchorages. In whale season, Hervey Bay adds a whole new reason to linger on the water.

Put Great Sandy on your horizon

Great Sandy expressions of interest are welcome. We’re launching in Moreton Bay first; future routes and shore visits will be shaped around the boat, tides and local access.

THE LOCALS YOU CAME TO MEET

A little wonder.
A lot of wild.

Keep your eyes on the water. Sometimes the best part of the day is the moment nobody planned.

WHEN THE GIANTS COME TO VISIT

Make room for whale season.

From a distant blow to a tail lifting from the water, humpbacks turn a day at sea into a story. Moreton Bay’s season runs June–October; Hervey Bay welcomes its resting whales from mid-July to late October.

LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER

A small head. A big moment.

A turtle surfacing for a breath is reason enough to slow down. Moreton Bay and Great Sandy are home to marine turtles; their seagrass meadows are feeding grounds for green turtles.

FOLLOW THAT LITTLE FIN

A fin. A ripple. A reason to pause.

Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins call both marine parks home. Keep watch as you sail Moreton Bay or explore Great Sandy’s sheltered waterways. Give them room and enjoy a wild encounter that unfolds at their pace.

A WHOLE WORLD IN THE SEAGRASS

The gentle meadow grazers.

Under the surface, seagrass meadows support a whole other world. Watch patiently for dugongs in the marine parks’ shallow waters, and give these remarkable grazers plenty of room to go about their day.

Discover life in the seagrass

Your time on the water is yours. We’ll agree a sailing area and handover with you, then you choose how to spend the days within it. Wildlife, weather and tides make every adventure its own.

GOOD DAYS. THOUGHTFUL FOOTPRINTS.

Come for the wild.
Care for it, too.

Let the wind do the work.

Make sailing the experience. Our first boat is planned with an electric auxiliary for the moments that need one.

Give the locals room.

Travel gently through the shallows, keep a lookout and watch wildlife from the required respectful distance.

Leave a lighter trace.

Choose permitted sandy anchorages clear of seagrass and reef, use suitable moorings, and bring your rubbish home.

A little preparation for wonderful encounters

THE GRAMPA WAY

Wind in our sails.
Sun on our side.

More nature in your holiday.
More nature powering it.

We’re building towards a sail-electric fleet with a simple ambition: propulsion powered by energy from the wind and sun alone. Sails for the journey. Solar charging for quiet electric assistance when it’s needed.

It starts with our planned Corsair 760, an electric auxiliary and solar charging in the design. Our Hobie Tandem Island plans bring another beautiful way to explore: sail, pedal or paddle, powered by the wind and you.

OUR SAIL-ELECTRIC VISIONGood energy.
Great days out.
Wind
Sails

Let the breeze
lead the way.

Sunlight
Solar panels
Battery
Electric motor

A little stored sunshine for the moments that need a motor.

No combustion exhaust.

Electric propulsion produces no combustion exhaust at the boat. Fresh sea air is part of the pleasure.

Hear more of the water.

Quiet electric assistance makes room for the sounds you came for: waves, birdsong and good company.

Care in every adventure.

Give wildlife space, protect the seagrass and bring everything you take back ashore.

YOUR LITTLE ESCAPE MACHINE

ONE SMALL BOAT. SO MANY GOOD DAYS.

Big adventure.
Your own pace.

Our first planned boat is the Corsair 760: a trailerable trimaran with room for a proper sailing escape. Sail-first cruising, a planned electric auxiliary and practical support to get you comfortably underway.

For self-tow hires, bring a suitable tow vehicle. We’ll work through towing, boat familiarisation and handover with you. Dates, base, prices and sailing areas will be confirmed in your individual offer after commissioning and operational approval.

FIND YOUR SEA LEGS

Every sailor
starts somewhere.

Brand new to sailing or already at home afloat?
There’s a starting point for your next adventure.

01

A FRESH START

Learn the ropes.

Our proposed school-led pathway starts with ASA 101 and progresses towards ASA 103. Build skills, find your confidence and enjoy the learning along the way.

I'm new to sailing
02

A FAMILIAR FEELING

Make yourself at home.

Already a sailor? Tell us about your experience. Boat familiarisation and a discussion of your qualifications will help match you to the right boat and hire.

I've sailed before
03

YOUR KIND OF FREEDOM

Follow the good days.

Agree your sailing area and itinerary, complete the handover, and settle into your own rhythm. Overnight anchoring is planned separately from sailing after dark.

Let's plan a trip

We’re arranging the training partner and course format. Each hire will be matched to the final operating and insurance requirements.

BEFORE YOU SET SAIL

A few good
questions.

Read our Moreton Bay sailing guide
Can I book a boat now?

We’re gathering expressions of interest while the first boats and launch arrangements are prepared. Join the list to tell us what you’d like to do. Dates, prices and availability will be confirmed before you decide whether to book.

Do I need to know how to sail?

These are planned self-sail adventures: you and your crew sail the boat. If you already sail, tell us your experience and qualifications. If you’re new, choose the learn-to-sail option and we’ll discuss the proposed school-led pathway as it develops.

Is the Corsair a two-week family cruiser?

Our Corsair ideas focus on one to three days, with a compact cabin for at most two nights. Longer holidays with separate cabins belong to our future Seawind plans. We’ll help you match the boat to the time and comfort you want.

Do I need a tow vehicle?

For a self-tow hire, you supply a suitable tow vehicle. Tell us if you’d prefer a launched boat and we’ll let you know what handover arrangements become available.

What happens after I enquire?

Your details go to Richard Dobson’s private enquiry desk. He’ll review your interests and respond by email as the launch takes shape. Joining the list is free and doesn’t commit you to a booking. You can also email Richard directly.
